President Donald Trump and Florida’s Governor Scott came up with lame excuses for why they won’t attend the CNN town hall with students who survived the shooting in Parkland. However, the National Rifle Association has accepted the invitation, and are sending in their extreme and unhinged spokeswoman, Dana Loesch.
This is the woman the NRA believes should talk to the students from Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School, who just lost 17 classmates and staff members because of one boy with an AR-15-style rifle. This type of weapon was outlawed for 10 years under a 1994 law but is now legal again.
Loesch is known for her nightmarish post-apocalyptic dystopian videos, in which she calls for “the clenched fist of truth” to instill fear as a means to justify their extreme positions.
In addition to Loesch, Bill Nelson (D-Fla.), Marco Rubio (R-Fla.), and Rep. Ted Deutch (D-Fla.) will participate in the town hall broadcast. Trump avoided attending the event, opting instead to host a“listening session” in the security of the White House.
Both Trump and Dana Loesch will attend CPAC, February 21-24 at the Gaylord National Resort & Convention Center in Maryland. The event typically caters to the anti-gun-control crowd.
Students who survived the gun massacre traveled to Florida’s capital to demand action, while students across Florida staged walkouts. Meanwhile, students from Silver Spring, Maryland walked out of classrooms and are marching to the US Capitol to support reforming gun legislation.
