“President Trump, please do something!  Action! We need it now! These kids need safety now!”  Lori Alhadeff screamed with tears rolling down her face.

Alhadeff’s daughter Alyssa, just 14 years-old, was among the 17 victims at the school shooting in Parkland, Florida whose lives were cut short senselessly and tragically Wednesday.

At 18 years old, the gunman legally purchased the AR-15 assault rifle used in the shooting.

“Florida is a state that has one of the most liberal gun laws in the country,” Chris Swecker former Assistant Director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation told CNN Tuesday.  “All the major law enforcement associations have come out against the assault weapons for years and years. And during the time when they were controlled or banned violent gun crime went down 66 percent. “

Everytown for Gun Safety the American profit organization, which advocates for gun control, reports that there have been 17 school shootings in just 2018 alone. The group defines a school shooting as "any time a firearm discharges a live round inside a school building or on a school campus or grounds.”

“How do we allow a gunman to come into our children’s school?  How do they get through security?  What security is there,” Alhadeff asked.  “This gunman—a crazy person just walks right into the school, knocks down the window of my child’s door and starts shooting. Shooting her! And killing her.”
