In the grand cosmic scale, humanity and our tiny home in the universe are absolutely inconsequential. In a neat time-lapse video from John Boswell, you can watch the formation and growth of the universe from the big bang to now.

Boswell, aka melodysheep, has made a name for himself over the years creating songs by autotuning scientists like Neil deGrasse Tyson and Carl Sagan and the cast of Stranger Things on YouTube. This new video is a bit like a short documentary about the formation of the universe, with the occasional clip from notable personalities like Brian Cox, Carl Sagan, and David Attenborough.

Each second in the video represents 22 million years, and as it progresses, Boswell explains the basics of how the universe evolved, from the formation of the first stars, galaxies, black holes, and supernovas. It’s not until over 6 minutes into the video that our own sun and solar system begin to form, while humanity doesn’t appear until the last fraction of a second. It’s a neat primer to brush up on what came before us, and just how tiny we are in the universe.
